About the Founder
I've spent the last ten years in search, working across financial services and law. Running mandates for hedge funds, private equity firms, investment banks, and Am Law firms on both sides of the Atlantic.
The recruitment market isn't broken. But it's not as efficient as it could be. Laterals addresses that gap. A way for exceptional attorneys to approach the firms they actually want to join, on their own terms, without putting their career at risk.
The lateral legal market moves on relationships, timing, and discretion. Many exceptional candidates I've worked with over the last decade have said some version of the same thing: I'd explore if I could do it quietly, and only with firms I actually respect.
Why This Exists
Attorneys have had two options. Work with a recruiter, or approach firms directly and hope nothing gets back to their current firm.
Working with a recruiter is a valid path, but it comes with friction: squeezing calls into working hours, handing over control before you've decided if you're moving, and trusting that whoever you've picked knows your market as well as you do. Approaching firms yourself removes the middleman but introduces real exposure. Both paths ask for real commitment. And most attorneys aren't unhappy or actively looking. They're open to progression, not moving for the sake of it.
Laterals sits in between. You explore on your own time, in your own words, with your identity protected until you choose otherwise. When a firm expresses genuine interest, the Laterals team steps in to handle the introduction, interviews, and offer. At the point you've decided you want that support, and not before.
